No two lots in Five Forks start out quite the same way. Older sites tend to have mature trees and established beds we work around carefully, while open lots let us move more directly. We take out brush, saplings, stumps and overgrowth and haul it off, then leave you a site that is level enough to picture what comes next. We like leaving a Five Forks lot in better shape than we found it.

Established properties usually have mature trees, settled grading and buried lines that were put in years ago, so we take time to locate what is there before anything heavy moves. The cooler months, roughly late fall into early spring, are the easiest stretch for land clearing in Five Forks. In those cooler months the underbrush has died back, so you can see the lay of a lot clearly and equipment leaves less of a mark on dry, solid ground. In the hot months, sudden downpours can soften soil and make heavy work messier, so clearing is best planned around the weather. Land that needs clearing now can still be cleared now; the drier window just makes the work go easier.
Wet weather is the main thing we plan around for clearing and grading in Five Forks. In a wet climate soil can hold water and turn soft, and working saturated ground risks ruts, compaction and erosion that undo good grading. It pays to watch the forecast, give ground time to drain after a hard rain, and shape sites so water has somewhere to go instead of pooling. In a climate like this, moving water off a Five Forks property is often what keeps the work holding up over time.
