Clearing and Grading on McCormick County Clay

McCormick grew up on top of a gold mine and took the name of the man who bought it. These days the draw is quieter: national-forest timber country, farm acreage, and lake life at Savannah Lakes Village on Lake Thurmond. We clear and grade home sites, cut gravel drives through pine land, and keep rural parcels usable, from town out to the lake communities. It's the same red-clay ground we work across the Upstate, and every job starts the same way: Brian walks the land with you and puts the scope and price in writing.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beyond 5 Stars! If you have a complex land, grading, or drainage issue, look no further than Brian at Custom Cut Land Works. We hired Brian to rework our ~950-foot gravel driveway and clear an acre in our backyard, and the level of service we received was nothing short of incredible. Here is why Brian stands out above the rest: Unmatched Dedication: Before we even started the driveway project, Brian spent over a year coming by on days with torrential downpours just to observe how water traveled down our property. He literally rushed over during heavy rainstorms to map out a foolproof plan from the top of the road all the way past our house to prevent any chance of flooding. True Expertise: Out of 5 different companies that gave us quotes, nobody else took the time to address the root drainage issues caused by the driveway’s pitch. Brian was the only one who truly understood the problem and designed a custom solution. Flawless Execution: He regraded the driveway, brought in crusher run, and solved every single drainage issue we had. It works amazingly well, and we have total peace of mind now. Long-Term Planning: He cleared an acre in our backyard this summer with a solid game plan for fall seeding. Next, he’s coming back to handle the crabgrass, apply a lime treatment to balance the soil pH, lay a sand/dirt mix, power-rake, and seed the entire property at once. We are so happy and grateful we chose Custom Cut Land Works. Brian’s attention to detail, patience, and genuine care for doing the job right are impossible to find anywhere else. If you need gravel driveway work, drainage solutions, or land clearing in the Fountain Inn, SC area, call Brian. You will be so glad you did!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you clear trees near the water on Lake Thurmond?

On your lot, yes. The shoreline strip between private land and the water belongs to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and removing trees or underbrush there requires a Corps permit through the Thurmond Project Office. We work to your surveyed line and help you sort out where the Corps strip begins before anything gets cut.

Do you handle small rural jobs in McCormick County?

Yes. McCormick is timber and farm country, and much of our work there is exactly that scale: overgrown acreage, pasture reclaim, gravel drives back to a home site. If it fits our equipment we'll take it, and if it doesn't we'll say so on the walk.

Do you work outside the town of McCormick?

Yes. We cover all of McCormick County, from the county seat to Savannah Lakes Village and the farm and timber acreage in between. If it's in the county, we'll walk it.

How do I get a price for work on my McCormick County property?

Call or request a free site walk. We meet you on the property, look at the actual ground, and give you a written scope and price on the spot.

Will travel to McCormick County add to my price?

Your written quote covers everything — we price the whole job up front after the site walk, so there are no travel surprises or add-ons later.
